人は産声をあげた瞬間から布に包まれ、布に囲まれて生活し、白い布を纏って自然へと還っていきます。いつもそこにある布。身につけている衣服や、毎日寝るおふとん、みなさんもたくさんの布に囲まれて暮らしているのではないでしょうか？

思い返せば幼い頃に、おもちゃの織機で布を織って遊んでいました。大人になって本格的に織物の技術やテキスタイルの歴史や背景を知るほどに、興味が湧き、新たなことを学び気づく喜びがあります。

テキスタイルの旅を通して、綿・麻・ウール・シルクなどあらゆる素材を生み出せる産地（産業・地域）が残っている日本はとてもユニークであり貴重であることを発見！

手織りのプロジェクトと、日本のテキスタイル産地での心が豊かになるものづくりに取り組みます。

I am Kanako Watanabe, a freelance textile designer and hand weaver living in Osaka with my family. My background is sociology studied at the university and textile design especially weaving graduated from Kawashima textile school in Kyoto.

After working at a textile company, I have just started my own project “kooten”, which means point of intersection and changing for the better in Japanese. Besides textile, I also do graphic design and illustration, and sometimes help international artists who want to visit textile production area in Japan.
